How to Love

How to Love

Though I'm surrounded by the colors of the spring

I think of flowers that you gathered up for me

And on the windowsill I left them to decay

Inside a glass jar that I emptied yesterday

Chorus:

Daylight breaks and I see you through

New eyes: I wasn't meant for you

I'm still learning how to love

And come the summer months, I'll miss you most of all

Those hazy August days are lovely to recall

How, then, do I begin amending all my wrongs?

Will you forgive them if I write you one more song?

Chorus

Learning how to leave the past behind

Though I feel it tugging at my mind

Surrender all the love that once was mine

And know the truth will all be told in time

Chorus
